Welcome

Sensei Dennis Pishock

Welcome to Shinzui Kan Aikido Dojo of Forsyth! Our school is a more physical and rougher style then most martial art schools out there and will push you extremely hard. This path will be both physical and spiritual. The physical exhaustion will push yourself to find your “true” self while also getting you in very, very good shape. At the end of the day, a martial art should be very simple. The bottom line is to get the job done as quickly as possible. It doesn’t have to be pretty, but it has to work. Flash is for the fakes.

The spiritual side is the 2nd half of the equation. Here is where Budo comes in and here is where I enter the picture. Think of Budo as a mental focus and awareness, an attitude per-say. Its something that is very hard to define but will be known immediately upon training with our dojo or any real school that focuses usually on tradition. Budo is truth.

After training for a period of time you should be able to answer some basic questions about yourself and your art. First, can you use it? Check. Next, are you becoming a better person or are you becoming a meathead wanting to start fights all the time. This should be unchecked. Are you actually benefiting society and yourself or are you sinking more into yourself and alienating others. Look in the mirror hard. Are you a better parent from your martial art or has your family forgotten who you are? Are you a better spouse or you falling into the abyss. This year is the year we all become better people and use our skills to better society. It starts in the dojo and then spreads everywhere else.

That is Budo and that is Shinzui Kan Aikido Dojo of Forsyth. The small ripple in the ocean. Iwanami.
